Same goes for your patients they need to be cared for in the same ways. Realism is also a great factor in this game for instance, in most games (like "Theme Park", for example) all employees stay in their job roles 24/7 without hassle, but this game adds realism and fun challenge by making your employees more than just "people who do stuff" - they need good surroundings to work in, good cash pay to live on, and time to chill out in the staff room. The graphics aren't too bad, but you have to remember this game doesn't focus on graphics - it focuses on gameplay, fun and addictive stuff (how many times have i said "addictive"? I just can't stress it enough!). Comedic cutscenes of your hospitals' development give you laughs, making sure you employ the right amount of staff and their attitude is a welcome challenge, trying to keep your hospital warm, well-stocked, and smart is also a cute little addictive thing. Keep the regular VIPs happy and make sure you keep that budget tight!īut what is the good highlights of this game? Well, there are many. Sound easy? Soon your hospital becomes so popular, it's simply a huge mass of patients walking about - but be careful - lack of warmth, bad surroundings and no seating can mean that your development turns into a rat-infested sick-covered hospital. ![]() Fun and weird illnesses walk in onto your hospital property (such as spare rib, bloaty head, people with slack tongue), and it's your job to invite, diagnose, comfort, heal and make sure the patient goes home with a smile - in that order. ![]() A shame, because I still enjoyed the game even though I was having a tough time of it.Ī fun game with wonderfully retro sound and visuals and a wicked sense of humour, but watch out for the learning curve.Ī simple concept of build-and-maintain your very own hospital, but somehow, it's highly addictive. The reason I stopped playing though was because the game began crashing on me, and eventually ceased to load. This may just be me not being very good at the game, but I found the learning curve to be somewhat steep, and I was pretty much done for after about six levels (the level where Baldness is introduced was my eventual stumbling block, although I had serious difficulty before that). The graphics were crisp, bright and a good example of what pixel art could still do in a game even in the 3D era. Personally, I love it, from the "Essex girl" accent of the receptionist's announcements to the incredibly catchy music (my personal favourites being "On the Mend" and "Fortune"). SpellingsĪ lot of people find the sound and music for this game irritating. On the other hand, as more and more equipment is required, additional plots of land are available for purchase in later maps. At the same time, the hospital can't run without handymen cruising around the hospital to water up dry plants, clean up litter and vomit (after all, people go there because they are sick) and fix machines, while receptionists direct patients to the proper rooms.Īs levels advance, the player faces increasingly harder situations: VIP visits, emergencies, epidemics and earthquakes, which can either take a toll on reputation or on the bank account. Most diagnostic and clinics can work with regular doctors, but others like the operating theater and the research room require specialized staff while the ward, pharmacy and the fracture clinic require an attending nurse. ![]() In addition to rooms, the player must provide radiators, seating for patients and drink machines. The size and layout of each room can be set by the player, according to the available space. There are several additional rooms, such as a staff room for your employees to rest, a toilet so that patients don't have to relieve themselves in the corridors, a research department to get the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies and a training room where consultants can teach a thing or two to rookies, making them capable doctors. Theme Hospital is a level-based hospital management simulation where players have to start on an empty building, and then assemble rooms with all kinds of material, from desks and file cabinets for the general diagnosis to the expensive ultra-scanners and X-rays to diagnose such bizarre diseases as Bloaty Head, Slack Songue or Alien DNA, and treat them with even more bizarre machines like an Head Inflator or a DNA fixer. ![]()

Even if a cell burns out, usually the panel will still work. It’s pretty much just a bunch of Silicon cells fused together between some laminated glass connected to some diodes and wires. Fusing is required for a redundancy in the event that one of the diodes fails or something else goes wrong with the panel. There are diodes in MOST solar panels that do not allow most of the above scenarios to happen. Fusing a Camper Solar Array – Final Thoughtsįaults in solar panels are quite rare. If it WASN’T fine… there would be an electrical code or standard saying something about it. This would mean that the area of the panel experiencing the fault would potentially have 20.2 amps flowing to the affected area.Īlthough there are 15A fuses in the proper locations, the current going from panel #1 into panel #2 would not be enough to blow either of those fuses.Īlthough this is not ideal, it’s nearly impossible to avoid when using two panels or two series strings in parallel and this setup is NOT forbidden by the National Electric Code so it’s one of those things you just have to sit back and say It’s fine. In the event that panel #2 had an internal fault, the power produced in panel #1 would seek out the path of least resistance and flow into panel #2. This scenario WOULD indeed require use of fuses in this array because the array short circuit current of 20.4 is greater than the 15A Maximum Series Fuse rating of the panels used. Here is an example of a setup that would NOT benefit from fuses, but DOES require fuses according to electrical code. Electrical code is sometimes a bit more conservative but is there for a reason. When this happens… ALWAYS abide by electrical code. Sometimes, there will be a discrepancy between what would happen in a real-world scenario and what is required by code. Electrical Code vs Real World Discrepencies This is why a fuse, by code, is not required in this scenario. Make the fuse constantly experience nuisance blows under normal operating consitions.Sure, a 10A fuse would indeed be between those two values, but the difference of. Ultimately… it wouldn’t do anything… In the event of a short circuit, 10.2A would flow. Now… What if you just wanted to add a fuse ‘just to be safe’: If a short circuit or other malfunction were to happen inside of one of the solar panels, since the short circuit current of the array is 10.2A, it’s safe to say that the panel itself is designed to handle this short circuit event as the short circuit current cannot exceed the maximum fuse rating of the panel. ![]() Since the Maximum Series Fuse Rating is 15A, we know that the wires, diodes, connectors, and other internal components of the actual solar panel can handle a max of 15A. Each solar panel has a short circuit current of 10.2A, and operating current of 9.8A, and a Maximum Series Fuse Rating of 15A. The diagram above shows 3x 200W panels wired in series. Fusing this type of array adds no additional protection or benefit, and here’s why: ![]() If the Short Circuit Current of the solar array is less than the Maximum Series Fuse Rating of the solar panel, the array does NOT need to be fused. Why Would A Solar Array NOT Need to Be Fused? That is why, by code, fuses are required in this array. This means that there would be 20.4A flowing to panel #3 EXCEPT, that since we installed a 15A fuse protecting panel three’s circuit… that fuse would blow and isolate the problem panel to a short circuit that is within the maximum short circuit parameters of that panel. In the event that panel #3 develops an internal short or fault of some kind… panels #1 and #2 would seek out the path of least resistance (the point of the short) to complete their circuits). Now… What if there were fuses attached to each of the positive wires from each solar panel where they connect to the MC4 Combiner? This means that there would be 20.4A flowing to panel #3, combined with the 10.2A FROM panel #3 where there could POTENTIALLY be 30.6A flowing through the short, which is over 15A higher than the max amperage rating of the panel and is more amperage than the panel is designed to handle. Here is what happens in an un-fused array if a short were to somehow happen inside of the panel: In the event that your solar array needs to be fused because the Array Short Circuit Amperage is greater than the Panel maximum series fuse rating… you must fuse your array at the point where the panels or series strings get combined to prevent potential fires or overheating due to a faulty panel. ![]() ![]() for Murphy, and by Tamar Rydzinski at Context Literary Agency for Maldonado (world English).įormer neuroscientist and Lambda Literary fellow Naseem Jamnia's SLEEPAWAY, in which a girl's first trip to summer camp is a chance to escape her overbearing parents, but the camp hides a secret-a clearing in the deep woods the older kids call 'the Glade', which offers campers the ability to make their dreams come true, as well as their nightmares pitched as Ellen Oh's SPIRIT HUNTERS meets Katherine Arden's SMALL SPACES, to Alyson Heller at Aladdin, for publication in winter 2025, by Erica Bauman of Aevitas Creative Management for the author and John Cusick at Folio Literary Management on behalf of Upswell Media (world).
